  under "breaking news" on jwdotorg, there is a link to a court case in canada that was just resolved on may 31st.. https://scc-csc.lexum.com/scc-csc/scc-csc/en/item/17101/index.do.

  it's in regard to him being disfellowshipped, and the court says they can't get involved.

  Whoop there it is!!!!

  walked into panda express for lunch the other day and there was a unusually long line.

  i notice a large group of folks that had a familiar dress and smile on their faces.

  the women dresses below the knees and the men wearing the top of line goodwill special suits.

  When Anthony got to the part about only having 3 watchtowers a year, it was like he was shocked himself. His brain must have been going back and forth between the idea of what the magazines represented - Jehovah's blessing the org with plenty of spiritual food like has always been touted in the past by the WT - to now we have next to nothing. And he was supposed to make it sound like a blessing?

  LoL to the regular Jw it would be. No more bulky mags to haul around and easy to remember whats inside because you only get 3 a year.

  Am I imagining this cover or what?

  i am trying to remember a cover of a wt or awake that had a picture of a priest or maybe even the pope.

  i think the issue came out in the height of the catholic sexual abuse cases and being disappointed in your religion or something like that.

  i have searched this site and google images but not be using the correct key words.. the reason i am looking for it is because should it come up that jw's are being persecuted due to all the recent publicity i would like to ask a jw if the wt and the mainstream media were 'persecuting' the catholic church when they were uncovering wrongdoing in that religion or any other.

  Interesting how they are all orange/brown covers. Is there a color code for subjects in WT land? Orange was used in the fast food business

  Orange makes people feel happy and cheerful. It's also excellent for establishments that serve desserts or unhealthy food because it makes people content and less likely to feel guilty for eating poorly.

  elder from my former cong

  i left the wts in the early 1990's and i was baptised at the same assembly as this elder and his wife in the late 1980's they were probably in their early 50's back then, you know the kind; get called on, become a study and take to life as a jw like a duck takes to water, a dream call for all jw's and we went onto to be good friends with them over the years, the book study was held in their house also, he quietly progressed up the jw ladder became an ms then elder, a few months after i started my fade i saw him one day while i waited for a bus and he acknowledged me i said hi etc and he started a verbal tirade towards me about me knowing its the truth, how close we are living to the end, how stupid i was turning my back on it etc blah blah blah, i couldn't really get a word in edge ways, i bid him good day and that was that, he really was quite angry, i never saw him again until recently over 25 years later when him and his wife and their son were having a meal in my local pub, he was standing at the bar ordering, i saw him acknowledged him said hi and he looked straight through me, he said "do i know you ?

  " i replied " hey eddie its jookbeard from the ********** congregation, surely you remember me?

  " he said sorry i've never seen you before in my life, his wife came over to help him with his drinks and i said "hey pat, how are you?

  There is a Korean proverb - Those that get beaten, remember.

  Meaning the one that wields the stick to beat on the other, forgets about it. But the one beaten by the stick, doesn't. So it's very possible he didn't remember it all. Got all his anger out on you, felt justified and satisfied and then forgot about it and you. Proverbial wipe the dust off your feet thing.

  I get suspicious of any one in a dress on Sunday and Saturday. I go to thrift stores on the weekend and see them looking for cheap deals. In the religious section of the books, there are plenty of "old light" books and black bibles.

  I can imagine those sisters where thinking, how someone just might come along and pick up that magazine, read it and come into the truth! They get to have a warm fuzzy feeling and hope they can be on the meeting with their wonderful experience.

  It had a lot of promise but I feel it took too long to sort of get to the point. Ex JW's will get it, but any other person will be lost.

  Wasn't there one that had a warm orange gold cover with a priest with the big hat on? But if it was years ago, I probably have it wrong since it is only in the last 10 or so years that they've had more color saturated covers.

  they reduced printing of mags.

  they drastically reduced the number of pieces of printed paper that members would "place" in people's hands in various ways, the biggest one being that they put them on a cart and don't encourage people to take them.they cut d.o.

  Pseudonyms

  one of this things that constantly reminds me of the extent and the reach the organization has into our lives, is the fact we all need pseudonyms to have a conversation or to make a comment in this even here in this place.

  even when people have left the society (by however it has occurred), its rare to see somebody change their online presence to their personal name.. now i'm not expecting people to do that of course, fore we are all free to do what we like (which is the real beauty of this forum) but the fact that it doesn't occur that often, shows how much we've all been effected by being told over and over again, "not to be critical of god's organization".

  of course there could be an number so side issues at play here; with some people not wanting to burn their bridges in an attempt to keep what reputation they have left intact and sadly a small minority others, do enjoy the anonymity to just talk trash ... but if a person can not feel free to stand up and respectfully make a critical comment or ask a thorny question without fear of repercussion from their religion, then doesn't it show that there is no real freedom in that faith.

  I'm more affected by having known a few "oddballs" that I wouldn't want to give a chance to know me here.

  I've had an unlisted number for almost 20 years because of one of them. I'm not even going to go into the specifics in case they happen to stumble onto this site.
